Our mission is to serve our community by providing assistance to those in need with compassion, respect, and dignity. We offer canned goods, cereals, pasta, meats, breads, milk, and other assorted food items, as well as some personal care items, paper products, and cleaning supplies. The Pantry also offers fresh fruits and vegetables when they're available.
If you have questions about Project Love, or if you or someone you know is in need of assistance, please contact us at 219-374-7312 or by e-mail at projectlovefoodpantry@yahoo.com.
As you may know, our current location is a 2-bedroom house constructed over 60 years ago and was never intended to accommodate the type of traffic and use we experience so for 4 years the plan has been to demolish the old structure and build a new facility in its place.
Two years ago we were blessed to be offered the temporary space we are now in from the Kubal Family in Cedar Lake. We are so grateful for their generosity! Click the photo below for a map to the temporary location.
In addition to the space needed for the Pantry, the new building will contain an Opportunity Center to help offer guidelines for food planning and cooking.
The proposed facility is estimated to cost approximately $250,000. We are happy to announce that we have nearly met our goal, so construction will begin soon!
We will continue our fundraising project of selling personally engraved Bricks that will be placed at the entrance to our new building.
If you would like to help, you can purchase a Brick that will be custom engraved with your name or your company’s name with clip art or logos.
It can be a beautiful way to commemorate and honor loved ones or share you place of business while contributing to an appealing and interesting walkway for those who visit.
Click the photo of the brick on the right for purchase information. If you have questions, please contact us at cedarlakeumc@yahoo.com or call 219-374-7312.
Our service territory now covers the entire southern half of Lake County, Indiana, south of 101st Avenue. This includes the Townships of Hanover, Center, Winfield, West Creek, Cedar Creek, and Eagle Creek.
Nearly 5,000 individuals within our service area are working people below the poverty level. Potentially 125 people per week are in need of a food pantry. Our goal is to help feed and educate those in need.
